Do you like Samba? In June 2019, Los Angeles will become a piece of Brazil. It is when the city hosts the Third Annual International Samba Congress, the biggest celebration of samba outside of Brazil. The three-day event provides a unique cultural experience through theoretical and practical learning about this strong, important, energy-filled rhythm that originated in Brazil in the early 20th century and won the world.
Between June 21st and 23rd, 2019, people from the United States and from different countries will meet at the Downtown Dance & Movement to attend lectures, classes and workshops on the history of Samba and how to dance it, dipping into the characteristics, origins and variations of rhythm , taught by more than 30 Samba professionals from Brazil.
Performances of cultural groups-including the Adriana Lima’s Female Malandro Contest, in which women present themselves incarnating the male icon of the culture of Samba - Bands and special guests will also sparkle the nights with much samba and their different genres, taking the Public to an authentic Brazilian party.
